What better way to discover 3-D shapes than with hands- on fun? My students love Angry Birds! They have Angry Bird shirts, hats, gloves, lunch boxes, book bags, and even shoes! I asked parents to send in cereal boxes, paper towel tubes, and other larger boxes from home. Then I asked to borrow plush Angry Birds. I expected to get 3 or 4, but NO, I got 9 the first day, and 5 more the next day. So, with 14 birds and lots of cylinders, cubes, cones, and rectangular and triangular prisms, we set off to build angry bird towers. They scored points for knocking things down and, needless to say, had a BLAST doing it! In this class, we work hard & play hard. Sometimes, we get to both at the same time!

What does 100 look like?
We counted, we sorted, and now we are showing off. 100 is way more fun when it involves candy, macaroni, q-tips, and silly bands. The students were not only creative in the 100 items they brought from home, but loved sharing, sorting, and counting them as well. This is how we displayed our items after the fun was over.
